Jam the Gyml
By Rossell Rawlings
Atlantic Christian students
and followers are being called
on this week to combine in a
joint effort to provide a paclced
house for Saturday's men’s
basketball game with Pfeiffer
College at 7:30 p.m.
And just imagine the look of
Pfeiffer coach Tom Childress’
face when he brings his team
into normally stoic Wilson Gym
with a crowd of 2,000-plus on
hand to back the Bulldogs.
Sound like a dream? Well in a
sense it is. But anyone who has
ever heard of the San Francisco
49ers knows that dreams can
come true. Hopefully that will
be the case Saturday night.
Jam-the-Gym Night is the
first of its kind held at ACC.
There have been Spirit Nights in
the past, and granted those
nights have brought out some
great crowds.
But there’s never been any
thing like Jam-the-Gym Night.
There will be prizes, contests, a
dunking exhibition, radio cover
age, and, if the Atlantic Chris
tian and Wilson community are
up to the task, a full gym.
The evening is being spon
sored by the Bulldog Club of
of Wilson and radio station
WVOT. Dave Hacker is repre
senting Penny’s in the venture
while Dick Oakley is contri
buting his efforts on behalf of
WVOT.
Penny’s will provide the pri
zes, and there will be some good
ones. A television, radio, tape
players and more will be drawn
for at halftime of the game.
Anyone coming into the gym
will be handed a numbered
ticket, and the winning numbers
will be announced during inter
mission.
The Bulldogs will need strong
support in their bid to upset the
No. 1 team in the Carolinas
Conference. Pfeiffer is having a
great season, including a big
win earlier over AC.
